Harc is the final piece on the solo album States of Rushing. It is a radical reworking of a piece originally composed in 2001, with the aim of making an appropriate final track to the album. The rotating-valve technique may clearly be heard in the circular filtering of the rushing air as the aperture within the instrument widens and narrows. Based around an arc within the piston valve, the title is a play on the words ‘arc’ and ‘hark’ - the physical geometry of the instrument is made audible.
